Working Together in Georgia's Juvenile Courts:

The Perspective of the
Special Assistant Attorneys General

It is a great privilege to share a portion of the materials available from the Child Placement Project (CPP) funded by the Georgia Supreme Court. Special thanks go to Michelle Barclay, R.N., J.D. Child Placement Project Director of the Supreme Court of Georgia who organized and led this project and who now shares some of the prodigious work which was accomplished in this project to explain the functioning of Georgia's Juvenile Court system from various perspectives. Thanks are certainly also due to the many other persons who have collaborated and made this information available.

The following section is specific to the role of the Special Advocate Attorneys General (SAAG). In lay terms, the SAAG is often referred to as "the DFACS attorney".

The following information is about all forms of "Deprivation" of children. In legal parlance, "Deprivation" refers to all of the forms of child abuse and/or neglect to which DFACS is authorized to respond. Child Sexual Abuse (CSA) issues would be one of these types of "Deprivation".
